So it’s that time of year again. SlutWalk time. Now while part of me bristles over the use of slut at all, seeing how women shouldn’t be called sluts regardless of how they dress or act (since when has female sexuality been considered a bad thing??), I’m more disgusted by the fact that in 2011 women are still having to fight to not have rape blamed on them. It doesn’t matter what a woman is doing/wearing/saying/how much she’s drunk or who she’s with, forcing sex on someone else is never excusable. How is this still open for debate?
No one asks to be raped. As for the slut label? As a woman who likes to wear short dresses, low cut tops, and flirt with men, if that makes a me a slut, well then yeah, I’ma a slut.
